The first prize award is the sculpture “Estela Solidaria- Hilarri Solidarioa” (Solidary Stele) by Néstor Basterretxea.
In the Spring of 2013, UNESCO Etxea asked Basterretxea for his help and collaboration in creating the designed for the sculpture that will serve as the first prize award for the “Give me a Minute” contest. In addition, we recognize both the people and organizations that make significant contributions to promote and protect human rights and fundamental liberty. From the first moment he supported the idea and quickly began to work; within a few weeks he presented many different drafts of what was previously, “Premio Estela Solidaria-Hilarri Solidario” which he donated to UNESCO Etxea.
Once again, Néstor Basterretxea showed his creative capacity with a solitary commitment; once again, his creativity was followed by a fair cause.
For us it is an honor to count with the legacy of “Estela Solidaria- Hilarri Solidarioa,” created by a world-renowned Basque artist who is near us at the same time. It is our responsibility to being splendour, prestige, coherence, and value to this prize that serves as a reminder of a great person, with immense generosity and commitment.
